Srividhya Shanker wins the Junior Olympics for Under 10 Girls Singles. Harish Shanker wins Division G (roughly Under 850).
At the Newgy US Open Warm-Up at Ohlone College, Tushar Suthar, part of the adults program, finishes second in the Under 1400. Harish Shanker finishes second in the Under 800. Anant Hari, a regular in the Gomes after-school program and summer camps, wins the Under 200 and finishes second in the Under 400. Srividhya Shanker wins the Under 100 over Ashmee Bhatt in a battle of junior program members.
Ardenwood Challenger (Vidya Pingali, Srividhya Shanker, and Raghav Kope) wins the Fremont Elementary School Team Championships after being in a 3-way tie for first with Gomes Elementary (Anant Hari, Ashmee Bhatt, and Shayaan Haque) and Ardenwood Elementary (Akhil Ravoori, Anil Tolwani, and Nitin Sampath). Gomes finishes second with Ardenwood Elementary third.
Harish Shanker, part of the Fremont Club Junior Program, wins the Under 500 event at the 2008 Golden State Open in Walnut Creek.
